Kearney Literacy Council's (KLC) goal is to support individuals of all ages and stages of reading proficiency. We offer free tutoring sessions for adults wanting to improve their English reading, writing, and speaking skills. We also offer tutoring to assist individuals preparing to take the U.S. citizenship exam. If you would like to volunteer as a tutor, or if you know of anyone desiring literacy tutoring, please contact us at kearneyliteracy@gmail.com. Literacy rates increase when people have access to books and share in reading with their families. Thus, KLC also aspires to get books into the hands of as many youth throughout the community as possible. To date, more than 3,000 books have been given through tubs of books for each Kearney Area Habitat for Humanity home, books for the Goodfellows Christmas Baskets.The Kearney area community has been very generous throughout the years supporting these efforts, whether through donating or volunteering.
