Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center

About This Organization

After decades of work to save the rich heritage of firefighting in Nebraska which included vintage apparatuses, artifacts and photo and written archive materials, The Nebraska Firefighter Museum & Education Center opened in 2009 with the Nebraska Firefighter & EMS Memorial Garden opening a short time after that.
In our nearly 15 years of operation we have become a destination spot not just in our state but from around the country. From school groups to senior citizen groups, families on vacation, visiting firefighters from all over, and just curious travelers, we have seen thousands of visitors from across the country and from around the world.
One of the attractions that keeps visitors coming back each year is our annual rotation of fire apparatuses. This allows us to showcase a variety of vehicles from across the state, including some rarely seen outside local parades.

Through various interactive events throughout the year, we help connect the public to various public service agencies such as the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, CHI Health EMS personnel and the local law enforcement agencies.

One of the unique displays we have is our Fire and Safety Hazard Room set-ups. Here children and adults can find various hazards that are commonly found in our homes that potentially pose a significant risk of fire or to their health. Children can even win prizes if they find enough of the hazards.

Please help us to do more, reach more and teach more. Help make our museum a "must stop" and talked about center.
