Nebraska Shrine Bowl

About This Organization

The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. was organized in 1958 with the mission to help raise needed dollars to provide care for Nebraska children. Our original mission is still alive today in the three Nebraska Shrine Centers: Sesostris in Lincoln, Tangier in Omaha, and Tehama in Hastings!

The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. helps support the 22 Shriners Children's™ facilities in North America dedicated to improving the lives of children. Patients with orthopedic disabilities, burns, and spinal cord injuries up to age 18 who would not otherwise have an opportunity for treatment can get the expert care they need at these hospitals. Shriners are proud of the fact that 97.6% of the monies donated to support our hospitals go directly to patient care. This is only possible because we volunteer our time to raise money for Shriners Children's™. The Nebraska Shrine Centers primarily transport patients in need to the Twin Cities Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the St. Louis Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. These hospitals specialize in high-quality care for children with facial bone, cleft palate, muscle, joint, and spinal cord injuries.

Each year, more than 1,000 children from Nebraska go to these hospitals and receive treatment.

The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. staff and members volunteer their time. The most significant donation comes from the Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. Shrine Bowl football game held each year. Proceeds from the Shrine Bowl game benefit the Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. and in turn Shriners Children's™. The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.

Screening Clinics for prospective patients are offered in various cities throughout Nebraska. At these clinics, local healthcare professionals volunteer to work with a healthcare team from Shriners Children's™ to evaluate children for possible admission.

Once a child has been selected, the local Shrine Centers (Sesostris, Tangier, and Tehama) provide transportation, lodging, and meals for each patient and family member during their hospital stay, at no charge to the patient or family. Patients are transported by specially-equipped hospital vans provided by each local Shrine organization. In emergency situations, especially those involving burn patients, Shriners provide air ambulances, and private or commercial aircraft to fly the patients to their destination. Funds raised by the Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc. pay for this outstanding medical care.

With the continued support of Corporate Partners like you, we will continue to fulfill our mission "Strong Legs Run That Weak Legs May Walk."
