Acerca de esta organización
The Family Advocacy Network (FAN) assists Law Enforcement, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and prosecutors investigating crimes against children, in particular sexual abuse in 14 central Nebraska Counties. We opened our doors in April 2001 and since that time we have served over 10,000 child victims of abuse and their non-offending family members. FAN provides a safe place for child victims of abuse to have a voice. We outgrew our space years ago. It's not unusual to have children and their families anxiously waiting in our lobby with no place to sit. We have quite literally been busting at our seams for years and somehow, we have always managed to make-due. But it's clear, we can and should be doing so much better for our kids. No child should have to stand in line, waiting and worrying, for their story to be heard. Now that we have been in our new space at 507 E. 26th Street, we have been able to add services, a triage center that provides a safe place for children and human trafficking victims a place to land while waiting for next steps. FAN has provided a family friendly location for depositions to be completed. We will be able to provide on site mental health for children and non offending family members. All of this would not have been possible in our old facility. Our new facility has provided a calm space for children in crisis to receive forensic interviews, on site medical exams, advocacy and/or hair and nail testing. We are able to work multiple cases at a time to ensure our response is immediate.
