VFW purposes are fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship; to assist comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist surviving spouses and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the USA, and fidelity to its institutions of freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States.

We have served Kearney's veterans since 1921. As a Veteran Service Organization, our Service Officers turn no veteran away from requesting assistance. We encourage you to consider joining the VFW, or if a family member of a Veteran you know would be welcome in the Auxiliary. It is amazing how many of our community are eligible as a family member.

Our key programs are community service, youth scholarships and activities, and veterans & military support. It includes but is not limited to, legislative support, active duty military support, youth programs, and community support.

The VFW supports multiple programs and activities in our community. We participate in flag retirement, military rites at veteran funerals, patriotism, and Americanism in the schools, scholarships, youth activities, veteran & family support, Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen, teacher of the year, EMT of the year, VFW in the classroom, and additional programs. Our Color Guard regularly presents colors at events and conferences that are hosted in Kearney.

We support Veterans in need, Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Essay Scholarship awards, and replacement flags for the Avenue M/N Overpass.

Post 759 is downtown at 2215 1st Avenue. Everyone is welcome to stop in and say hi or just enjoy friendship among themselves and our veterans. Stay and watch a ball game, play pool, darts, or even some pitch on Wednesday night.  Check out our reception hall for meetings, weddings, parties, and other events.
