Acerca de esta organización

Join us on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 1-5 p.m. for a free open house inside the Family History Center at the Trails & Rails Museum at 710 W. 11th St. in Kearney. A pop-up exhibit with 1960s and 1970s pictures will be on display with one lucky guest winning a free print to take home! All are welcome. Tour the facility that brings in high-quality exhibits and events for the public to enjoy!

Some of the Museum's main annual events include: Don't Come Event, Wagons West Celebration, From Beyond the Grave, and the Christmas Tree Walk. Enjoy the FREE monthly Fabulous Fridays programs. FREE school group tours are offered and the Kearney Public Schools reserves two weeks for each 4th grader to enjoy an entire day here at the Museum during their Pioneer Days. The KCLC after-school program schedules weekly groups here during the early summer and the T&R Blacksmith guild meets here monthly for their hammer-ins.

Volunteers clock-in for approximately 3,500 hours annually. This Museum would certainly not be where it is today without our dedicated volunteers that choose to serve on committees, assist with archival research, giving tours, gardening, planning events, and day-to-day operations. You are welcome to join the fun family of volunteers!

Memberships are open to everyone! There are levels from student membership for $10 to Gold Engineers for a minimum of $250 annually. Check www.bchs.us for more information!

Give Where You Live donations may be brought to the museum that day (All checks have to be made out to the Kearney Area Community Foundation, dated December 5, and have "Buffalo County Historical Society" on the memo line), pay online at https://www.givewhereyoulive.net/bchsus. or, new this year, find a direct link on our website: www.bchs.us. BCHS board members are willing to pick up donations from people who cannot come to the Trails & Rails Museum and/or prefer to pay via check. The BCHS Board of Directors will determine which project the remaining funds will be transferred to, in the case of any remaining funds at the completion of major projects supported by the Give Where You Live events.

Your generosity and ongoing support for BCHS operations make it possible for us to:
• Present a year-long calendar of educational programs including Fabulous Friday programs, field trips, children's activities, and cultural events
• Preserve and maintain six historic buildings plus the JC Marlatt blacksmith shop, Textile Tales, livery barn, and a Union Pacific train, all located on the 4+ acre
BCHS campus • Care for our collections of historical archives, objects, and art
• Create new special exhibitions every year

BCHS appreciates your support and we look forward to continuing to serve you by being stewards of Buffalo County's vast history!
