Acerca de esta organización

Our neighbor-helping-neighbor philosophy encourages members to work together and give back to their communities. Below are areas we have focused on in the Kearney Chapter's first ten years and future planned activities.

- Support the Mobile Food Pantry clients by providing warm and nutritious breakfast and/or lunch as they wait for the food distribution, we have fed over 1,000 people in Kearney, Minden, Gibbon, and Pleasanton areas. We have assisted with locating funding for local food bank food to combat food insecurity, and physically helped with the distribution of over thousands of food boxes on mobile food pantry dates. We regularly volunteer to help with food distribution at the mobile food pantry sites. We have concentrated in 2024 on providing additional protein sources at the mobile food pantries and we have donated over 1,000 dozen eggs to those in need.

- Education impacts lives, we have an annual fundraiser for our scholarships for first-time female college/technical/vocational program attendees. We have also hosted free classes to increase skills many of which are being lost in today's society.... sewing, mending, canning, welding, vegetable gardening, cheese making, pasta making, bread making, kombucha making, green cleaning, and healthy living with essential oils.

- Sponsor events and participate in local volunteering opportunities - Coat drive for Safe Center Clients, Blooming Project (Healthy relationship & gardening program) with Press On Ministries/Safe Center, distributed produce and baked goods through partnerships with Meals on Wheels and Hilltop Farmer's Market, Refrigerator purchased for Family Advocacy Network and filled with donations for the clients. Awards of $22,000 in college scholarships for Buffalo County residents (first-generation female college attendees). Purchased school clothes and shoes for needy children, and mentored single mothers. Purchased hundreds of hats and mittens/gloves for migrant school children. We also often provide protein sources for the mobile food pantry sites.
